Mid-Level Underwriter (Insurance) St. Gallen 50-100%

Job Description

Are you passionate about working with numbers and conducting transparent, meaningful analyses? A role in the finance department may be your ideal career path, where your skills can truly make a difference. Your insights and analyses provide key decision-making support for management, helping to navigate financial matters related to local units or the broader business management of the organization.

Responsiblities

Take full responsibility and act as the center of competence for reinsurance treaty cessions for designated business units. This involves organizing and participating in meetings with business units and reinsurance partners, including brokers and reinsurers. Establish and manage reinsurance agreements, oversee the reinsurance process using supportive systems and practices, and secure necessary underwriting information such as premiums, risk profiles, claims, and natural catastrophe data. Analyze and assess the information to prepare underwriting details for various lines of business and programs. Build and maintain relationships with both internal and external business partners, and negotiate treaty terms with respective business units and third-party reinsurers.

Required Qualifications

Demonstrated success as an underwriter or broker in non-life treaty reinsurance is essential. A university degree in fields like economics, business, actuarial science, or another relevant qualification is preferred. Proficiency in German and English is required; additional languages such as French, Spanish, or Italian would be advantageous. Capable of delivering presentations to diverse audiences. Strong analytical and quantitative skills paired with solid decision-making ability are crucial. Familiarity with actuarial concepts and natural catastrophe modeling is important. Outstanding negotiating and communication abilities are needed. Being a team player and managing demanding situations are key for collaborating with senior managers and stakeholders both within and outside the organization.

Offer

Become part of a supportive team where everyone can depend on one another and grow collectively.
